  • windshield wiper removal?

after my hood flew up and smashed my windshield, it also crushed my wipers... im trying to replace that plastic part that surrrounds the wipers... i popped out all of the plastic bolts but only half of the side comes out. i think that i have to take the wipers off to get the rest off.. i also need to get under it to clean out all of the glass shards that keep slicing at my fingers... lol

i popped up the cover at the bast of the wipers and removed the nut off of the bolt with locktite all over it... but now i dont know how to remove the res.t.. anyways any help is appreciated thanks all

DarkEcho you need to get a special tool to remove the wiper arm. It looks similar to the one below. I think places like AutoZone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly's, or other stores carry them, maybe even rent them too.

Darkecho-- once you get the arm off by removing the bolt at the wiper base, you need to remove the black plastic retainers in the wiper cowl. If I'm not mistaken, you have to remove all of the black plastic retainers to get the left side up. I had to remove the wiper motor on my camaro. I didn't need a special tool to disconnect anything. If you're trying to remove the linkage from the motor itself, you can use a screw driver and pry it off. Trust me, it wont break. Oh, use wire cutters to gently pull up the centers of the plastic retainers, then remove the retainers and the cowl grilles. Hope this helps!
