Today I changed my fuel filter..it was very easy and inexpensive. My 94 Firebird seemed kinda sluggish and I thought that the fuel filter might be the problem. When I removed it I blew in the little tube of the old filter "Like blowing bubbles through a straw" and some black gunk came out of the old filter! I could really feel the difference....it rides way smoother. The filter costs like 8 bucks so its something can do to improve your cars performance without spending lots of cash.

yea it is a 5-10 min swap and well worth it if you haven't changed in awhile. I just changed mine recently because my car seemed to be somewhat sluggish and it helped it too. They recommend like every 10,000-15,000 miles to change it.Comment

EYp honestly guys, one of the reasons I get decent times out of my cars is I am meticulous about them being in good tune. Good o2s, plugs wires, filters, etc...Comment

Yeah, I have a new fuel filter to put in except I don't have a wrench big enough to fit the bolt on the filter. Is that like a 7/8's or something?
Plus I have to jack up the car and I hate working under the car when it is jacked up, even with jackstands. Just paranoid I guess. Yes, this is a very often over-looked but very necessary part of a tune-up. In GM's the fuel pump is adequate but when put under the strain of pushing fuel through a dirty/clogged filter it usually fails! Replacing the filter is an inexpensive guard against needing a new pump!Comment
