ok ive posted this before with no luck.. My cruise control sticks and does not operate and i kind of need it as im driving about 300 miles tommorow. This is what happens. WHen i engage the cruise control at high speeds everything works fine... until i try and brake or turn it off. It will stay on and if i take the car out of gear then it will rev up to the revs it was at (which is really scary when your going 90). The only thing i can do is pull the car over and turn it off. Then i have to actually open the hood and pull the throttle cable so it opens the throttle body plate (i hear a click) and then let go. it then will let me start the car and not rev up. has anyone had this problem before. ive trie spraying the cable down with wd-40 and no luck. any input would be appriciated

Can't help ya, but I had the same problem with mine -- I would hit the accelerate, (I had a 1997 black RS automatic before my current car), and the car would grab as many gears as possible, run to 5000 rpm, and lunge forward. I was always afraid it would break the rears loose. For me, braking would disengage it ... My advice: dont' use the damn thing, ever, pull the fuse! If you can't figure out what's wrong with it, don't let some poor chap down the line turn it on and kill himself. There was probably a recall on these, though we're both out of warranty.
