  • suspected fuel pump, unsure, read plz

Whatever the problem is, it slowly progressed in a time frame of a year, and now, since yesterday, my car is basically undrivable.

It feels like it's missing, but it's more of a choke, already did plugs & wires, changed fuel filter. Suspected fuel pump, friend said it would make a humming noise in the back.

    ALSO

My catalytic converter has been broke for about 3 years now and i heard a very loud bang under the car on the passenger side (catalytic converter) at the same time it started missing/choking more.

my question is, can a catalytic converter actually choke the engine so much that i cant even get on it 1/4th throttle?

any help would be greatly appreciated, trying not to spend like $800 to get a new fuel pump put in.

    THANKS! sibble@comcast.net aim:sibble101

fix the cat and go from there. a cloged cat can give you a missfire, overheated motor and even a no start. start with the cat and then see what happens

A good converter to get is the carsound cat. They will run you about $50-$65, and if you take it to a muffler shop, they'll charge you about $50-$80 to install it. DO NOT pay anymore than $80 for them to weld it in for you. If you do, then you're getting ripped!
Go here and look up part #94009. http://www.car-sound.com/universal/940.htm
It fit's nicely, and you'll a reducer to make it fit the "I" pipe. The muffler shop should supply that along with the cost I listed.
You can also find them on ebay too.

When my car was misfireing I heard knock in the exhaust as if someone is banging it from underneath.

Try checking your coils. My coil went out without warning. First find out which cylinder it is, then just either buy a new coil for that cylinder or swap your old coils and see if misfire moves to another cylinder.

Get codes scanned at autozone for free.

But yeh, if it feels like a choke (which means your rpms are limited or climb extremely slowly), then it's probably cat.
