Open the gas tank and open and relieve the schrader valve. Its located near 3 black fuel hoses in the engine compartment on the drivers side of the engine.

You need to open your gas cap and let is sit for a while to let the pressure out of the tank then you need to put the gas cap back on before you remove the the fuel filter or you will have tons of gas pouring out. I did this and only a very little bit came out. Just remember to put the cap back on, it creates a vaccum so the gas won't pour out.

I just let my car sit for a few hours before I changed mine. I didn't have to relieve the pressure.

The "proper" way of relieving fuel pressure is to open the valve on the injector fuel rail. My car keeps fuel pressure even after a few hours, so yours may leak and you may be able to forgo the "relieving" however, it won't hurt to open the valve anyways. It's located on the passenger's side of the fuel rail, has a black cap, looks like a tire valve. Take a rag, stuff it around the valve to catch the fuel that's gonna come out, and depress the valve core WITH the rag, otherwise it might come shooting out all over you . Also, when you go to change your filter, take a pan down there with you, as all the fuel in the line, whether there is pressure or not, there WILL be fuel in the line, will come pouring out when you disconnect the line from the filter, just use the pan to catch it. Also be careful when you remove the line coming from the tank to the filter as it is easy to kink it by pulling it back to far/fast.

If you want a photo of the valve on the fuel rail, I'll be happy to take a picture of mine and post it for you. Just let me know.
