at 80mph my rpms are at like 2750 and i have 3.08 open end i dont think it should be that high at 80 or is that normal??? oh and its a 3.8L 5 speed 96

So the lower numerically your gear ratio is the higher your cruising RPMs will be? I put a 50 series tire on my bird and now my cruising RPMs are higher. A lower gear (higher numerically) increases the engine rpm at whatever speed. bout 2700 at 80, but i gots the y87 :D1997 Firebird Convertable White, with custom Purple pin striping and custom Purple detailing!!!<br />Y87 Performance Package W68 Apperance Package<br />Boydes, aluminum rims 16\" BMR STB <br />SLP Cold Air Intake 3\"hiflow cat 3\" dynomax custom catback, 2.5\" Flowmaster 80.
