  • washed my engine bay out yesterday!

ok I finally washed my engine off becuase it was very dirty. Then I started up my car and it ran fine untill I rolled out of the carwash then i hit the gas to dry my tires then all I heard was a burping noise :( I mean no power what so all,At that point I got very scared. Then I pulled into my old highschool parking lot and let it run for about 5 minutes and reved it it sounded normal so I hit the gas and all the power was back. What happened.Did this ever happen to u?

speaking of this.. are you allowed to actually spray off your engine or how do you go about cleaning it? i know you're not allowed to get wires wet etc but that pretty much means you cant wash off your engine cause they're all over

Do a search in the Appearance forum, there are many opinions about washing the engine bay.

I just dont spray the battery, or any of the wires near it and the PCM. I spray lightly around the top of the engine bay, and really blast the front of the engine to shoot all of that grim off.

Ive never had any problems. Just make sure your engine is cool. Cold water + hot intake manifold = disaster

You can also buy some really good engine cleaner foam at OReilly.
