  • Oil Leak

Okay, this sucks ... the underside of my oil pan is coated in oil like it's been leaking slowly over time. I had the dealership check it out and they said I need a new oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket for a mere $750. :(

Does anyone know how difficult it is to repair these things myself? On the F-bodies, the engine is so far back, I'm not sure how to remove the valve covers or if it's possible to remove the oil pan without taking out the front crossmember underneath the car. Any advice is appreciated ...

I would be willing to put money down on your rear mail seal leaking as well. That will leak down over the oil pan and make it look like the oil pan gasket is leaking. I would definitely make sure the rear main isn't leaking before paying for any repairs.

as Pilotlite said, it could be your rear main seal that is leaking. if it is that then expect for your tranmission to be pulled in order to fix that.
