I don't know if this belongs here since it sort of has part of 2 sections in it. Before I had my 3" pipe put in from the y-pipe all the way back I could punch it in first gear and spin the tires but now after I have had it done for a while when i punch it now it doesn't do that anymore. It will chirp between gear changes so I did't lose anything there. So If i put in the rear with 3.42's(or 3.73) I should be able to get that low-end power back right? My 1/4 times have improved with the 3" but with the gears I know it will help more. I am not completly done with my exhaust system yet since I want to get headers should I maybe have the pipe restricted back to 2.5" through the s-pipe? Thanks for any help.

It depends, do you plan on getting engine work done or using forced induction? If you plan on doing any of these things then you'll want to have the 3 inches and headers. If you plan on just keeping basic bolt-ons then you'll probably want to go to a smaller diameter.

        To answer your question -

Yes, going with a lower gear ratio will bring some torque down low and you'll get that back.
