  • Rebuild on a 3.8L

This question is from social media -

Question: Doing a full rebuild on my 3.8L. It's my first time and I am worried about over spending. Where should I start?

A: My first suggestion is to find a replacement motor from somewhere like https://www.car-part.com/ - you can use FWD motors and can get them for pretty cheap. $500 or less is not unheard of. From there you will need to swap a number of parts like your oil pan and intake manifolds over. This means you can sell parts off the longblock that you don't need and make the project even cheaper.
