Hi Everyone, I have a stock 2002 V6 Camaro with 125k original miles, car runs well but getting the dread P0420 code. The cat was replaced previously at 100k miles with a Walker cat.
Since I will probably be replacing the cat was wondering what new cat brand I should go along with a new catback exhaust system. Not looking for anything too loud or rasby for city or highway cruising (or throw P0420 code)? Welcome all suggestions.
You could try a highflow cat Magnaflow, if you do something like Pacesetter headers it comes with a 3” Y pipe so you could buy a 3” cat and look for a 3” exhaust system. I like the mellow ones like one of my 3” in/out Dynomax turbo muffler. I have a QTP 3” electric cutout where the cat was. But you could put it anywhere, open it alittle and sounds pretty good. All the way sounds raspy. Good luck.

Thanks for the information, I ordered the parts you recommended, since I won't be making any changes to the induction system will be keeping the 2.5" sized pipes. Will let you know when it's done.

Ordered the high flow Magnaflow cat, Dynomax turbo muffler, and pair of Upower retangle exhaust tips.Keeping the original headers unless there is a problem with them. The new exhaust pipes will be custom made at the shop.

Nice, the newer 3.8 exhaust manifolds aren’t that bad so should work alright, sounds like your doing it right, most exhaust shops are good at what they do. Never heard the 2.5” Dynomax turbo muffler should be interesting, if it’s not loud enough for you, you can always add a 2.5” electric cutout.
