As far as I know, it's a pretty expensive piece of glass due to the size. Don't even think about doing something to crack the backlight, I've heard those replaced at $1500.

Be sure to call your insurance agent - lots of policies cover glass, sometimes with a lower deductible. In Tucson (rock chip city), most everyone offered me free glass coverage when I got quotes.

Yup, same with me, if it's beyond repair, they have to replace it for free in Fl. I just had a small chip, but I told the insurance rep I wanted a new windshield. She was like well we can't do that, we just plug the hole. I then told her the chip was in my line of site which it kinda was, it was more to the middle than in front of me, but hey ;) She was like ok, we'll replace the whole window :D

Guess who makes the F-body glass?
I am a line operator for Pilkington International aka United L&N Glass and we make ALL of the glass for F-bodies. The windshields and back lites have about $50-$70 in parts and labor. We sell them to AGR(Aftermarket Glass Replacement)companies for $200-$500 and they mark it up again another $200-$500. If your state has no fault glass replacement then I suggest chucking a rock at your windshield. The damage has to be larger than a quarter in order for it to be replaced for free. (at least that is the rule in this state) I get auto glass for free at the plant, but with F-bodies out of production, we only run that glass every couple of months or so. We ran a windshield made out of Galaxee Glass (the factory privacy glass) last week because we got bored. It looked bad *** but it's too dark to see out of :(

Hey, just call around, I found a place where I lived in CA that came out to the house and installed the windshield there. It cost me a total of $270, not a bad deal I think.

There is a company located around here that is called Truimph Automotive Glass.

Get as many quotes as you can and then call them, they make it a point to be known for beating anyone else's price.

                  Good luck!
