  • Tranny Mounts

I'm getting a really loud clunking noise when i drop the clutch above like 3k RPM. I know my tranny mounts are stretched and worn because when i bought the car, none of the motor mounts were attached and the oil pan was sitting on the frame, supporting the engine.

Is this noise possibly the tranny twisting and knocking back down? If not i'll probably get new tranny mounts anyways. Any suggestions on which to buy and how much to spend?

Try www.gmpartsdirect.com if your going stock. If you don't mind a little bit of noise :D try a poly mount. Those you can get at about any autoparts store for a fraction of the price of a stock, but you will have to make the bolt hole longer on the crossmember brace.

i have an Energy Suspension urethane tranny mount on my car. basically, when you first install it, it has to break in. this takes about two weeks to a month depending on how you drive it.

the mount will be real loud the the ride will seem a lot more 'primitive'. once it breaks in, the noise goes away.

Yea I have a prothane tranny mount. Annoying the first couple weeks then the noise goes away and it loosens up a bit. One of my favorite mods (I went threw about 3 stock mounts lol)
