  • PCV valve installation....

Hey guys I installed my PCV valve a while ago and when i took the old nasty one out and popped the new one in, i realized a while after driving that i never put the old oring back on the new one, so i took it off and put the new one on but im not sure i put it on the right way... anyone got a pic of how its supposed to be??? that would be very helpful thanks!!!

Sorry to hijack the thread...but do you guys think the a bad pcv valve can cause rough idle? I have 86,000 on the car.....how long is a pcv typically good for?

Hey, I'd like to see some pics of a pcv changeout.
I wrote in on another thread a couple of weeks back and asked if anyone knew where the pcv was on our cars and I don't recall anyone actually letting me know. The info sure would help me.

Pastor, it is on the plenum right in front and below the tip of the cowl. You will see the black plate with 2 bolts on it. Just unbolt it,,,carefully, as there is a spring there. Take out the old one. Shake it, if it still makes noise, that means it's still good. But since you took it out, might as well replace it :D

                      Hey FRENCH_CAMAROV6!

Thank you so much for the link to the pictures regarding the changeout of the PCV valve. I am, by heritage, French to the bone, but unfortunately could not order lunch for myself when I was in Paris. My Mother speaks French pretty well and I may ask her to help me with some of the translation. I think the pictures are pretty self-explanitory though...
Wow, Bourdeaux....beautiful part of the country.
My folks (mother's and father's side) were from an area just outside Paris, I believe called Dubourg. Blessings!

What do you mean? It is on the driver's side valve cover you can't miss it, you should have the oil fill there and then the pcv a lil' futher back

Just stick your hand in the back and feel around for it.

Wrong and right. A PCV valve that still "shakes" can be bad, this is a poor old-school test.

And yes, if you ook the 2 minutes out of your time to pop the hood, un-do the 2 bolts, and shake it, replace it anyway! It should take under 5 minutes from te time you pop te hood until you close it.
