Clanking sound from the rear

Everytime i hit the little bumps in the road, or the reflectors, my car dramatically makes a clanking noise. I have only narrowed it down to it coming from the rear somewhere. Can anyone help? Ive had the problem for months now, but its getting really bad now. Thanks

I have a rattle or clank occasionally, when I last had it on a lift, we found it to be the heat shield on the exhaust.

It may sound "oversimple" but I had a clank in that region of the car and found it to be the jack kit rattling around back there....put a big hunk of grey commercial carpet in the spare/jack well and now it rattles no more....now I have a heat shield rattling....its always something.

Check the exhaust system, mine had a broken weld. I took it to pep boys and they welded it back for free!
