Hey guys, I'm fixin to be going overseas at the end of this month. I'll be in Japan for 6 months and my car will have to stay behind. I have no one to take care of it so I will be storing it. What kind of thing should I do to the car so I won't have problems when I get back. Also, I got some new spark plugs and wires, should I wait until I get back to put them on?

stabil in the gas tank.. new oil.. plug all the intake and exhaut inlete/outlets..

umm.. jack it up and put it on stands and lay the tires to the side..

    remove the battery..

.. and when you come back flush everything.. all the fluids just to be safe..

6 months is not that long.. and i am probably going a little overboard.. but.. better safe then sorry.. i may have forgot some things..

Hey thanks, those are some good Ideas. I only thought about jacking it up. But I think plugging the intake/exhaust is one I haven't heard. I will definately do this. Thanks again.

You might can even winterize it like a boat by spraying topoil through the intake until she chokes :D But I'm not sure on this, only did it on carb'd engines in my past.

I left mine for over a year (Korea). The only thing I wish I had done was disconnect the battery. I had to replace the battery when I got home and thats about it. Of course to be on the safe side I changed all the fluids soon there after. I was worried about the fuel, but no problems there.

Hey 96_V6_Fbody! You in the military? Where are you stationed? I'm in Pearl. Last time I went on deployment, I stored mine on Ford Island. Just unhooked the battery and threw on a car cover. When I got back, I reconnected the battery and was rollin out. No problems. But then again, I have a yellow top! :D
