  • replacing belt tensioner

    does anyone know how to replace a belt tensioner, how do you release the tension.
    thanks, burtcoam, 94 3.4, camaro

    put a socket with breakover bar on the bolt in the middle of the pulley and turn it as if you were going to tighten it. This will release tension on the belt, and pull the belt off of another pulley, then let the tensioner spring back as far as it wants. It has two bolts holding the whole unit on, loosen them, and reverse process for installing new tensioner.
