In 1994 all the 3.4 Liter v6's had the OBD 1 style PCM with the OBD 1 harnesses and plugs. In 1995 when they ran the 3.4's for the first half of the production year, they used the OBD 1 style PCM, but the plugs and harnesses were the OBD II style. Later in 1995 when they first introduced the 3.8 liter into the Camaro, the OBD II plugs and harnesses were accompanied by a new OBD II PCM. So in other words, your 1994 3.4 liter has the OBD 1 PCM and the OBD 1 harnesses and plugs. If you look under your dash, under the steering wheel, you will see the input harness for the PCM. If it is square with little pegs on the bottom, the harness is the OBD 1. If the harness is rounded on the corners and kind of a trapezoid shape, it is an OBD II type.
I'll email pics if you need to see them. You can acess your data stream with a Tech II or a Tech I. With the use of a Tech II, you will need an adapter for the OBD 1 style harness. Any dealership should be able to read it.
You can't go to auto zone and have them pull codes, and you can't do it yourself with a paper clip or similar aluminum key. Because of the OBD 1 connectors, it doesn't work.
