Hi Guys...(and ladies...know we have a couple out there....) I hope you will forgive me for sticking this on the F-body board, but I really can't find a Merc. Villager board. My 94 mercury villager (also a V6) is displaying all of the signs of a starter/solenoid going bad. The clicking, the intermittant dead ignition...etc. I banged on the starter with the butt of a really big screwdriver to get it going...and now the battery and the brake light have come on...
I'm perplexed...I checked the levels on the brake fluid and even added a little to make sure, but the light stayed on. Do you think I could have hit a wire down there that would have triggered the idiot lights on the dash...or are the lights just another sign of a bad starter? Also, does anybody know of a board for the Villager. Great Nissan product....but boy are they confusing Blessings!

You probably caused the battery light to come on by hitting the starter. The connections need to be checked. If I was you, I would get a starter from auto zone and do the swap, since you will be under the car anyway. (Look at it as preventive maintenance to keep from being stranded sometime soon)

Yeah, seriously, I was at wal-mart when the old gal just decided to pull a click-click on me. Had my wife and 3 year old in 95+ degree heat and humidity...no time for niceties so I whacked the starter with a 24 inch mechanic's screwdriver handle. Do you think the brake light is connected to the same deal? I'm all for changing it out!

I wouldn't think so. Unless the cable to the parking brake runs along down there. Check the switch that is activated when you engage or release the parking brake. p.s. Mark 16:15

Just discovered that something's up with the alternator. I don't know whether it slung a belt with all the junk going on with the starter or the alternator itself is on the fritz. I'm pretty sure that explains all of the lights.
