• Camaro vs Civic

My buddy challenged me the other day to a race. He has a 93 Civic, intake, 2" drop, and exhaust. We are going to do this out of fun. My camaro is basically stock. I have no mods to brag over. My thing is, not only do I want to smoke him, I want to do it so bad he'll have nightmares. He wants to race after he gets another mod. He won't tell me what it is, but he did say it would cost about $500.00. Anyone have any idea what he might be doing? How much horsepower does a stock civic have? What mods can I do that are cheap (about $100 or so) to help guarantee victory?

Depending on the model, it goes from 70 to 125hp

If you want him real bad, do the free stuff first. If it's a manual, learn how to launch and shift, PERFECTLY. You can lower the pressure in the rear tires, remove the sway bar and other parts, keep the engine cool before racing, unbolt the exhaust to run open, etc. You can make a CAI pretty cheap, that might help a little. MustangEater ran a sub 14.5 without spending any money, so if you learn how to drive the car you can get close to that. And if a 93 Civic can outrun a 14.5 with basically no mods, more power to them!

Better tell the guys at that other forum. They think the F-body can't do less than 15.

I was watching Horsepower TV last night on Spike TV and they were modifiying a stock 94 Civi Si. Totally stock it dynoed 87 hp. They added intake and full exhaust (headers all the way back).

They dynoed again and it hit 97 hp. I am not sure why you are worried. Tell him you want to race him before that mystery mod and then after.

Also, save your race for the track.

it would have to be NOS or his is looking to be embaressed and only a major ricer would try to put NOS and an older engine like that so i dont know if he would be that stupid...

I agree with mjparme with the whole race him before and after...

Thanks for the advice. I have an automatic and he has a manual. Chances are we will be at Moroso so the race can be safe as possible.

What should I lower the rear tires to?
What is a CAI?

By exhaust I assume he means fart can. You should be able to take him. A guy I used to know had a hatchback with intake, exhaust, and NOS that still only pulled a 15.81 in the 1/4.

WHOA!!! Watch out the 2" dropped adds like 25HP and the exhaust ( If it's sponsored by FOLGERS )thats another 25HP BUT if he adds the Type R stickers that adds a whopping 50HP so you're basically fuct

First off, Mustangeater can drive like a mofo. Second, he took off his serpentine belt(which isn't recommended). Mid 14's are NOT typical out of a stock V6 Fbody. Expect mid-low 15s out of a stock manual, and high 15's low 16's out of a stock auto.
