The dealership informed me that my Ignition Cylinder had gone bad, not sending a signal to the computer to start(small section where the key is inserted. Ended up costing me $319.00, which included 2 keys @ $30.00 a piece.

I HIGHLY recommend you get that checked out. I now think that when your security light comes on and goes off without warning that the car is telling you there is trouble ahead.

      Hope this helps

That's what happened to me, and I had to get the same stuff fixed. I wish I knew about that other way to fix it yourself, though.

i don't know what to think of you guys do a search and you will find my complete and total explination of how to disable this feature. while this security system makes it almost impossible to steal our cars it does go out with age and cause major problems. yes you can disassemble the entire steering column to get to the two litle white wires OR you could do it the easy way and just bypass it.

for this job you will need
        1. and extra ignition key
        2. a phillips head screwdriver
        3. an 8mm socket

take the phillips head screw driver in any hand preferably you dominant one and remove the kicker panel(the 8mm socket will also be used)

locate the steering column underneath there

locate the bundle of two wires coming from the top (they will have an airbag warning sticker on them)

find the plug and unplug it

either cut the wires or use two paper clips and put them in both holes of the plug

touch bouth sides to each side of the little black chip in our keys

take a different key and start the car

viola! security system bypassed until you plug it back in and try to start it

let me know how it goes
