I looked but I don't have a part number. It is the rear defrost delay timer. I was wrong, it was $40 not $30.
Here's a post over at LS1Tech that talks about troubleshooting a defroster that doesn't work at all. The last post talks about testing the timer relay.

I hate my car. I read this post yesterday and then on my way home from work my car starting doing the same thing! It turns off after 2 minutes, takes 5 minutes to get to come back on, and quits again.
I did notice that when it did come on, the voltage gage dropped and my lights dimmed noticeably. It seems like the defroster is drawing a lot of current. Don't know if that helps.1999 Y87 Camaro
Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust

I just found this...read the last post.

Sounds like the problem is as simple as changing the 30 amp breaker in the fuse panel. It makes sense, the breaker oveheats, breaks contact, won't let you turn it back on. When the breaker cools in 5 minutes, the defroster comes back on until it overheats again. It's a 3 dollar part, I'm going to try it...1999 Y87 Camaro
Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust

did i just hear an echo?Your sig is the most important part of your message. Make sure that you list EVERY single thing that you have done to your car so that we can all go \'oooh!\' and \'Ah!\'. Please make your sig consistently longer than anything else you post. Please include your lengthy sig with EVERY single post you make during a reply, even if you only reply with a monosyllable grunt.

Thanks for the flame, but IT DIDN"T WORK! I bought a new 30 amp breaker and the defroster still shuts off after 2 minutes and won't turn on for a few more. Here's what I noticed...
1. The breaker is labeled defrost/seats. The circuit breaker IS tripping because during those few minutes when the defrost won't turn on my power seat doesn't work. Once the defrost comes back, so does the seat. So the circuit is drawing a lot of current for some reason and tripping the breaker.
2. It can't be the timer unit in the dash because that would kill the defrost and not the seat. The entire circuit goes out.
3. When I turn the defrost on, the voltage gage drops and the lights dim. It's drawing A LOT of power.
So what else can it be if it's not the breaker? If you have a power seat try it when the defrost dies and see if it works. If it doesn't it's the same problem and we have to find where the short/problem might be.1999 Y87 Camaro
Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust

breaking a line would lower the restance and there for draw more currentwww.turbov6camaro.com

I definitely agree it has to be short and we all seem to have it. All the elements in my window are fine. When it does turn on for a minute all the elements work defrosting the window. All I can think of is the plug connection at the back window. Maybe they corrode or something. That's my next step...1999 Y87 Camaro
Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust

I need to check, anybody having this problem notice any of their defrost lines not working? I think I've got one or two at the very bottom of the glass.1994 Firebird 3.4
15.65 @ 86.8
funkz.net/firebird
Timeslips

Yeah I know, all the seat tells me is that the breaker is tripping since they're on the same one. The seat is fine, it's something with the defroster tripping it. All that tells me for sure is that it isn't the timer part in the dash since the whole circuit goes out.1999 Y87 Camaro
Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust

I found a solution in a few places on ls1tech.com. They say to replace the breaker with a 30 amp fuse instead, they fit in the same slots. They mention the power seats too. I bought another breaker yesterday and that didn't work. Trying this tonight will post tomorrow...
