hi, my ac clutch pulley has had a bad bearing for a while now (squeeling while engine is on) and its just a matter of time before the bearing locks up and breaks my belt. i am leaving for a rather long drive next week and don't want to take a chance on the bearing freezing. will a belt for a 3.8, non ac system, work on my car if i bypass the ac pulley? i know they have different size belts for cars with and without ac's and just wondering if the non ac cars are set up the same minus the ac pulley. thanks

No they aren't. The non-AC cars have an idler pulley in place of the AC compressor. I bought a bypass belt that does work, and I got the size from this post a while back.

The 62" belt worked fine. Run it the same way but go directly around the alternator, bypass the AC, and use the tensioner to tighten it up. The part number is 620K6 for the belt.1999 Y87 Camaro<br />Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust
