  • My car says it's in park, but it's really in reverse?

Sup fellas....couple days ago I pulled into the driveway, put the car in park (3.8 V6 auto trans), and the car began rolling down the driveway after I got out.

Since then, the car will not go into park. I can physically put the shifter into the park position, but the transmission is still in reverse. Reverse is now neutral, neutral is now overdrive, and so on. The transmission shifts like a champ, but is there some sort of linkage that needs to be adjusted?

I have read of this happening once or twice in the Drivetrain forum. Somehow the linkage gets knocked off by 1 or something. Let me do a search for you and see if I can find anything.

I found 2 posts about something similar:

I know I've seen posts about just what you're talking about. I seem to remember it was fairly easy to fix, but don't hold me to that.
