i just ordered hp tuners for my car... How could this improve my times? Is it hard to learn how to tune it? Ive got a 1999 A4 with tsp exhaust (two brospeed mufflers on the back) 3.42s (unprogrammed as of yet) Jet Stage 2 (should i take it off after tuning?) Ram Air, Whisper lid. K&N.. How should I tune it? Could i shave a lot off my times? Can i play with the shift points?

Not going to get much untill you get something that you really need to tune. right now you can tune for the gears and get rid of the speed limiter or raise it, set you fans to come on sooner, stuff like that. once you get a cam or something thats when it will be great.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

Best thing to do is go to the HP Tuners board and read! Two areas you will get some gains in are Spark and VE (Volumetric Efficiency) tuning. If you get a WBO2, then you can play with the PE (Power Enrichment) tables. There is a lot to learn but a lot to gain. The more MODs you do, the more tuning will help.
Once you get it and understand the basic, I have some Excel spreadsheets I developed to help tune the V6. If you send me a scan of one of your "Runs" (should be done on an abandoned airstrip in Mexico or a drag stip, never on the road ;) ) I can evaluate your car and give you recomendations on what to tune. Have fun with it and good luck.2001 Firebird 3.8L V6 M5,
It once had....
NX Nitrous Wet Kit, ZZP X-P Hot Cam,
3.42 LSD, Pacesetter Headers,
36# Injectors, HP Tuners
322 RWHP, 379 RWTQ
13.596 @ 102.56 w/100 shot

No, it doesn't tell you 0-60, 1/4 mile, HP, etc. There's no accelerometers in it, so it wouldn't be able to tell like a GTech would. It's just used to edit the software in the PCM. ;)Matt

It will tell you 1/4 mile times and 0-60 times. Just log a "Run" then save it to a .csv file (Export) and you can get 0-60 just by looking at the time and VSS (speed). The 1/4 mile time will take some math but can be done. I might ad this to my spreadsheet. I will take a look at it.2001 Firebird 3.8L V6 M5,
It once had....
NX Nitrous Wet Kit, ZZP X-P Hot Cam,
3.42 LSD, Pacesetter Headers,
36# Injectors, HP Tuners
322 RWHP, 379 RWTQ
13.596 @ 102.56 w/100 shot
