  • Quick question about rear end.

Hey guys I know that this should probably be posted in the drivetrain forum but i need this answered ASAP so i can oreder the parts tonight.

Anyway I just ordered a set of MOtive 3.73 gears and an SLP Torsen LSD from Ebay. The auction for the LSD says it includes bearings so my question is would i be alright to get the complete install kit (cheaper than delkuxe) with all bolts shims etc. With no bearings because i dont want to have to pay like $50 extra for somethig i already have.
    Heres the LSD:

    Thanks alot

You paid a little too much for a take-out stock Zexel. The pro series posi units normally go for around that much.

Anyway, the bearings that come on that are slightly used (as is the carrier) but should be in good condition. You'll want to inspect them before installation.

I would definitely recommend new axle and pinion bearings to refresh your rear while they're in there installing gears. You'll also want new races for those carrier bearings. Any shop that is qualified to install and setup gears should have plenty of different sized shims on hand, so just pay for what you use rather than getting a bunch of different sizes you won't need. Or get a pair of adjustable shims.

well the SLP torsens are pretty rare
i think its a decent deal considering thats its new in box. anyway. the guy at my local speed shop told me that i would need an install kit b/c it would be crazy to not replace the bearings while hes in there.

Thanks for the compliment on the rims.
I got my cardomain sit e here. its not doen yet but u get the idea

That is pretty expensive compared to what they used to be, but with SLP no longer selling them it's pretty rare to find them as cheap. Prices are only going to continue to rise as they become even more rare.
