my waterpump from a 95 firebird is leakign and i plan to replace it this thursday
can anyone give me some direction as to where to begin, my biggest concern looks like it will be the power steering section. any advice on how to deal with that?
other than that one issue the replacement seems pretty straight forward
upon completion i will make a how to guide for anyone that might be interested.
thank you
I will take on all comers...or come on all takers!!! Whichever you prefer.
Hi, you will need to take out the coils bracket, to do that take out the screws on the front and one screw that is way back by the header (a little tricky)and as you said the power steering section (cant remember how the mechanic worked that).
have fun!!
know when to go wot, and when to just enjoy the ride
It's pretty simple, here's what the manual says:
1.Unbolt and move the power steering bracket and one coil of the coil pack (on 3.4L)
2.Detach the coolant hoses from the water pump. (after draining the system)
3. Unbolt the water pump pulley, and unbolt the water pump.
For installation, make sure all of the old gasket is off the block before you put the new one on, and make sure to use some silicon sealant on both sides of the gasket for proper sealing.
It was pretty easy to get off when I was removing the timing chain cover (which was a b****) but you should be alright. Good luck.
ok, this thursady will be the day for the waterpump gasket to be replaced, to be honest im not positive its the pump itself but more of a gasket leak then anything, but thank you all for your responses
the guide should be ready by the christmas weekend
you can find it and alot of other tech articles at Www.Mainstreamtopics.Com
under the fbody section.
once again thank you all for your responses

That's exactaly what happened to my 3.4, but since I had everything apart I went ahead and changed the pump anyways. There was no way I was gonna do it again.
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
