• plz help, got a freind who needs help bad....

got a freind who bought a 93 z-28. hes had it one week and put it in the ditch and almost wrecked it 3 times. reason? traction control wont work. was the control standered on all z-28? if so, how do you turn it on and where is the button or switch? it is an automatic. any info would help, it has almost killed us in the rain, and we havnt even been able to get on it.
thx all

remove friend before he kills himself/others in that beast
traction control problem might be his right foot

I think the button is either on the console or dash by radio/hvac controls.

don't think it came standard in that year, if there's no button, he doesn't have it. sounds like the problem is either the driver, roads, or tires. becuase 3 times in a week that you need traction control and a trip to a ditch is way too many for a careful driver. if you have crapy tires it doesn't have to be in high rpms to break traction in the rain. tell your friend it's a freggin v8 and keep his foot off it and he'll be fine.

10 bux says the driver is 16, any takers?

First week I had my car the left-rear tire was underinflated and worn. After it had rained and the ground was still wet, I made a slow left turn at an intersection- tire hit a puddle and my passenger and I did a 180 in the middle of the road. It was a slow left turn, but I kept my foot on the gas through the turn, tire lost contact with the ground, LSD did the rest

i'd say its the tires and the rain thats the problem. Maybe the driver is turning a little too hard and since he has bad tires his car is gonna spin. The rain might have caused oil out of the road to come up, thats if it hasn't rained ina while. This has happened to me before but i only did a 360 and got on top of the median. I just got new tires and drove a little more careful, tell ur friend its a V8 with lots of torque to be careful or hand his car over to me

I think that your friend should get like an old Impala or Caprice with a V8 first to learn what torque is but in a big car. I did a 180 in the middle of the street with my V6 when I first got it, hasn't happened since without me trying.

Driver is 16? Nah, he's 17. He had a geo metro when he was 16 tho. I'll take ya up on that! I have to agree with most of these guys. that z28, no matter how powerful it is, will not spin unless your foot hits the gas enough. You have to learn the limits of a car. You don't get a new car and floor it the first week you have it. i didn't put my 6 to the floor until I had it for a month. Another problem is, he's over correcting his stearing when he starts to slide. i know he's not gonna stop flooring it, but tell him to learn to drive before he floors it again.

lol, that is a he11 of a change, i went from a 98 hp ranger to a 200 hp bird, and that took a lot of getting used to, just think of going from, what like 50 hp? ;) to 275!

the 93 Z28 didnt come with traction control. idont believe traction control came in the camaros till 95 or 96. however there are alot of differences between the 93 and all the other years. the motor is a speed density motor instead of mass-air, the opti-spark modual is different (non vented) and the T-56 tranny that came in them are also different. it seems the problem is most likely comming from the tires and a lead foot.
