my serpentine belt shredded yesterday, 1 month after i replaced it because the old one was really worn. it ripped up the insulation on underside of the hood, and sliced my oil pressure sensor in half. i got a new belt the same day and put it on, and there isnt enough tension, it flops around. does anyone know how to adjust it to make it tighter?

Sounds like you need a new belt tensionor.
You don't really "adjust" it, its spring loaded. They sometimes just lose their springyness, and you can move it with your hand, or sometimes they jsut lose all spring.
Its the pully, underneath the alternator, and above the AC, and guide pulley, on the passenger side of the motor.
Shoudl take a 1/2 in. wrench to push it down, to get the belt on.

i dont think it's lost its springyness, and it definitely wont move just by pushing on it, it takes quite abit of force to move it with the wrench.http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/483076
TSP rumbler, straight pipe, corvette servo.
Soon - 3.42+lsd,headers, cai,

If you're tensioner has "play" in it when the belt i s on and the motor is running, it will shred a belt quick! Watch it and see if the pulley kind of slides or vibrates from side to side. If so, time to replace it!www.fullthrottlev6.com THE SOURCE!
