as you all know i changed out my waterpump and gasket hoping that would solve my leaking issue, turns out its not the water pump, but what lies beyond the pump itself, can anyone help me out on this issue...things like, what is it? and how to fix it, lol

What lies behind the water pump is the front cover. There is a gasket between there and the block that could have blown, but without seeing it it's hard to guess.
I really don't know how hard it is on the 3.4. You'll have to drain the coolant and oil, remove the crank pulley, possibly remove the water pump again, etc. In the 3.8 you could get the bolts that go through the oil pan without having to remove it, but my manual says you'll have remove your oil pan.
Also, while you're in there you might as well replace the timing chain and tensioner.

Alot of the writeups are from the factory service manual. Others are just ones that I've collected from the net over the years. :D
As for the install, I'd expect it to be kind of pricey. It's a PITA to get access to it, so it would probably cost a few hundred to replace. That all depends on how good of a deal you get, though.
at a shop its gonna coast you a pretty penny. Its failrly easy to replace that gasket just keep taking things off the frong of the engine until you have full and clear acess to it. You'll see the time chain once you get everything off. And then just reasemble everything back to normal. Just drain the coolant and oil so that they don't mix and make things even worse. And if you decide to do it you might as well replace the timing chain and sprokets while your at it seeings how your already there and have everything exposed.
I had to replace that gasket on my 3.4L It took me like half a week to get it done, and I'm a pretty good shade tree mechanic. Taking it apart isn't that bad, putting it back together can be a b*tch. You pretty much have to take off most of the accessories to get to the timing chain cover. And like crasher said, now's a good time to replace the timing chain and sprockets. You'll have to drain the coolant and oil, the water pump pulley, sirpentine belt, water pump, cranshaft balancer, and unbolt the power steering pump and move it out of the way... it says to remove the oil pan, but I didn't have to, but make sure you don't mess up the oil pan gasket that's right under the timing chain cover. So... have fun w/ it. It really wasn't too bad, but kind of frustrating if you haven't done it before. Good luck
well getting there wont be too bad, since ive done more than half those things....the thing that scares me is the oil pan part

Well... like I said in my last post, you probably won't have to take off your oil pan if you're careful. Just don't thrash the gasket and you'll be golden.
