  • Engine Knock, please help a fella out!!

    here's my situation:
my car will start and run fine for about 20mins or until it gets nice a warm. no knocking, no loss of power, nothing. then after 20mins it runs like crap. engine starts to knock, idles real rough, and will die when i put it out of gear into nuetral, like during a shift from gear to gear, and i lose power. i've tried new plug wires, haven't done new plugs yet because they are about a year old. i checked my distributors for good spark and they seem to be ok. i thought it might've been a bad cat, but i've got a new one on it right now, so it can't be that. can anybody out there help me out? i'd hate to have to take my car to the dealership and get over charged. i just wanna be able to drive my car again. thanks in advance.

It just sounds like it runs ok while the car is in closed loop and then once the o2 sensors warm up and are being used to calc fuel delivery it starts to stumble. I just can't see why the wires/coils would only act up after 20 minutes of running.

                carbon buildup in combustion chambers.

Seafoam it or run higher octane.

Might also be a misfire. How do you know it's actually knocking and not misfireing?

When I had coil problems car would run fine when cold for first 5-7 mins, then start to misfire like crazy.

ok tell me the difference between a knock and misfire? if it is a misfire, then it sounds like it's the O2 sensor like speedy v6 says. because it runs fine at first, then goes to shiz. if it was plugs, coils, or plug wires, wouldn't it act up from the initial start? thanks for all the replies guys.

                      codes are:
PO113-intake air temperature circuit, high input
PO125-insufficient coolant temp. for closed loop fuel control.
                      PO300-engine misfire(well duh i knew this)

comments and suggestions welcomed and appreciated. thanks.
