  • Coolant Leak

Ok heres the deal I get home from some highway driving go inside to get a camara and come back out go over to the neighbors to see how his truck is then turn around and notice a stream of orange fluid. Then I look under my car and notice it dripping. Well I took it for a spin temp stayed fine then today I topped my coolant and let it idle while I had something cleaning the plenum and guess what it started leaking again. It only leaks until oh about 2 quarts low I guess that is what a guy said that topped it off. After it leaks once it doesn't leak anymore. I was thinking overflow but funny thing is that my coolant ended up being so low.

I assume you checked all hoses for leaks and gave the radiator a look over to make sure that it's kosher. Is it only or mostly leaking with the engine off? If so, my guess is the water pump.

Well I got under my car after I found out it was leaking well I saw liquid near a wire that seems to be for grounding Maybe I can take a pic and put it up but all hoses looked good it was too far back for it to be the radiator. It was dripping from the oh god what is it the cross member maybe it is under the front wheel pinions(things that turn the wheels) My mind is blank for words today.

Check near the water pump. It may be weeping to let you know that it is going out. Mine would leak intermittently before I changed my water pump.

If it's dripping from the steering gear its deffinatley the water pump. Look behind the water pump pulley to see if its damp, if so theres your problem. They only run about $45 and are easy to fix, it can be a PITA in some spots. DO NOT strip the threads in the block!
