What year car? Can you tell where the leak is from? How big of a leak is it?

Just to throw the simplest idea out there: Make sure your drain plug is tight enough and the rubber washer is in good shape. If it is from the oil pan itself then it may be the oil pan seal... Not a huge deal to fix, just a pain to fix ( ive never done it on a newer car, only on my old 65 Mustang I used to have ).

Could be your rear engine seal(think thats the proper name for it?), mine leaks on my y-pipe all the time and the oil pan, and down my tranny, etc. It's fixable but a PITA.

If you look at it under the car, clean everything off with some brakeclean or carb clean, then run it for a little while and get back under there to see exactly where its coming from. Its really hard to tell because it blows all around under there. If its the pan, you MIGHT be able to chaneg the gasket without lifting the engine, if its the rear main, you have to drop the tranny. I have the same problem, but its not bad enough for me to mess with it yet. Just smells once and a while.

Its most deffinately your rear main seal. Im sorry to say that this is seldom a fixable problem. I used to have a Jeep Cherokee that this happened to. I got it fixed twice and still leaked.

But, at least take it to a mechanic and let him look at it!

i had to drop the tranny to replace the rear main seal in my 94...have fun. but i wouldn't wait around to have this fixed because the oil will get in your clutch and it will start slipping.
