  • Fuel Pump: Bucket or No Bucket?

    I'm changing my fuel pump and wonder if it was worth the hassel of putting the bucket back on? Does the pump made a noticable amount of noise without the bucket? Thanks for the help

      you know the bucket, or bowl, that the pumps sits in. you can either put the pump back in the bucket or strap it to the brakcet when chaning it

        YES put the bucket back on. It keeps gasoline in it so that when you're low on gas and you go around a turn or hit the brakes, your car doesn't sputter.

          Yes, however on many applications, you might need to cut the bottom of the bucket out to let the strainer have access to more fuel. I cut the bottom out of mine, and it works great!

            wouldn't cutting the bottom of the bucket be the same as not having a bucket?

              I left mine out, and the noise was about the same as the stock one.
              08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
              96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine

                If you just cut the bucket, it will make it a bit ore quiet. Also, I think it makes the reinstall easier to have everything snapping into place like OEM.

                  MY Walbro is just strapped right to the mounting arm with no bucket at all and I have never had 1 problem.

                    I think i'm going to go with strapping the pump to the arm. Since doing the trap door route it will be easy to put the bucket back on if I have any problems.

                      Use some hose clamps and clamp the pump to the bracket. Screw the case for it, too much work.
                      MAKE SURE YOU USE A NEW SOCK FOR THE BOTTOM OF THE PUMP.
