  • I need some help

ok here is the deal I have a 98 camaro the mods I have done are rksport headers, high flow cat, 3.42 gears with lsd, whisper lid, aluminum drive shaft, ported throttle body, jet stage 2 chip, and maft translater, my best time before the headers was 15.13 at 89.09 now that I have the headers on the car the thing runs any where from a 15.3-15.5 at 88. My question is does anyone have any Ideas about what could be going on here should the car be running like this or should it be alot better. I live in florida so its hot most of the time and I did just recently put the headers on the car. I have the comp cam coming fro the grandprix store along with the valve springs and pushrods for a set of heads that I have and a torque conveter. any help would be much appreciated

Have you autotap'd it yet ?

You may need to "fine tune" it more, with the headers, P-n-P TB, and MAFT+. I know that mine runs really rich at WOT after I ported/polished my TB (don't yet have the MAFT+).

An autotap log might go a long way to determining what's going on.

yeah Ive put it on the auto tap and fine tuned it with that, but im thinkin that when I tuned it my o2 sensors where starting to go bad and I had to replace them and I havent had a chance to put it back on the auto tap to see if any thing has changed I have it adjusted at wide open and a Idle with the translater. hope fully thats the prob. cause I just cant see loosing .2 in the 1/4 by putting headers on it.

ok here are the time slips
          with out headers with headers
          60' 2.161 2.236
          330 6.238 6.420
          1/8 9.622 9.848
          mph 71.64 71.46
          1000 12.597 12.832
          1/4 15.130 15.364
          mph 89.09 89.24
the only thing that maybe I can think of is that the 15.13 pass was in low 50 degree weather and the 15.3 was in about 70 degree weather, and seeing how I live in fL. it doesnt get that cold very often maybe thats what it, or maybe I just lost to much low end torque with the headers. any Ideas are help full.

Headers won't make a difference on a stock internals car. You should be running the same. You didn't hook on the headers run and that costed you. Run the same 60s and at the same temp and you should see similar times.
