Are you sure it's not the battery. ;) I've had 'em go down to where the lights and everything would work, but the starter wouldn't work. Check the voltage on the battery, then get someone to try starting it and see what the voltage drops to (if it does at all).

OK EVERYONE, IM POSITIVE ITS NOT MY BATTERY!!!!!! For one its brand new, and plus we jump started my car just to see if it would help any at all and it didn't do a thing. So its at the shop right now. Is thier a Solenoid in the ignition? Because a friend told me that alot of cars have them in the ignition too and that might be what happened, it went out or something....oh well, I'll find out for sure tomorrow (wensday). I'll keep you guys posted.

This sounds very similar to a problem I had on my 94 Bird. Mine is an automatic and I went out to my car one night to take my girlfriend home and it did nothing. everything came on, just like your's is doing, but the thing wouldn't turn over. Come to find out, it was the neutral safety switch had gone bad. That is the sensor that tells the car it is in park or neutral in order to let it start, when that goes bad, it just won't start. fixed that, and no problems since. if they can't find the problem at the shop, have them check that out. It could be it.

      Good Luck,
      Bill

if its the pcm there should be a solid security light on the dash cluster, if theres not then ya might want ta check elsewhere. the resistor chips in the keys hardly ever go bad, however the sensor in the ignition module come loose or quit all together all the time. if it is the module then there will be a secutiy light and you wont hear the fuel pump run when you turn the ignition to the ON position and there will be no power to the starter either. now you dont have to replace the whole module, but if you dont then you will need to take it to a dealership to have them rig the sensor in the ignition so that it will always think there is a key in it.

Ok, its fixed now, something to do with security, he didn't tell me what they fixed cuz my grandfather went up there to check on it. Also when I first started my car, my Low Oil light came on and stayed, turned it off, check the oil, fine, turned the car back on, light went off. Later after my car was off for an hour or two was going to work and started my car and low oil again, restart light goes off....at work I go and check it again on break...samething, even after work. What I don't get is, why is it doing this? Possibly a sensor? or what, anyone have this problem? I don't wanna have to restart my car everytime I start it after it sits for about an hour or so. I thought about taking it back up there but I figured I would ask here first and give it a day or two.

Maybe I should reset my computer. Also my SES light doesn't come on no more after 8 months :D Finnaly, maybe it was coming on because of that security thing they fixed, but im glad its finnaly off! Feels good to have the car back, after having my 93 escort with a rebuilt eninge in it and having it break down all the time and having to depend on another ride, it just sucks!

My car didnt start once at the dealership and it edned up being the ignition wire. It broke, so they had to replace that, and give me new keys..

two things you want to check:

neutral safety switch - the white plastic "u" shaped unit that tells your car its in park.

VATS PassLock thing - the chip in your key.

if its the neutral safety switch, its like $8 to replace. if its the PassLock system, bypass it or something. there are directions on the net on how to do it.

just for comparison, i have a manual, and my neutral safety switch is behind my clutch petal. mine went bad, and same thing would happen, no clicking from the starter, but everythihng else worked. i first bypassed the switch and tried it, and it worked fine. so check that first. then check the VATS system.
