• Ok Switching To Synthetics; Prevent Leaks?

Ok I'm going to do my oil change this weekend and I am going fully synthetic... Probably mobil one so here are my questions again

What's the part number for the mobil one oil cap..

How can I prevent oil leaks?

First time changing on my own.. any tips? Like what procedures do you guys handle.

For one thing... DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN your drain plug. I made this mistake and have a part of my old drain plug stuck in my oil pan (thank god for oil pan screens). Pretty simple thing to do though, an oil change that is. Try to drain your oil while your engine is still warm, this drains all the oil better. Other then that, you shouldnt have any probs.

You mean the screw you untighten to let it drain? On a scale of one to 10 (10 being too tight) how tight should I tighten it?

I can't imagine the torque spec to being anymore than 20 or 22lbs-ft. Just tighten it up snug and don't put all your effort into it. You'll know if its not tight enough, because it will leak, in which case all you need to do is tighten it up a little more. Better to not tighten it too much than to overtighten.

BTW, you'll need a 15mm socket for the plug, if i remember correctly.

The part number for a mobil 1 filter is M1-101. This is the stock replacement. But you can use the slightly larger M1-201. It will just require you to run 1/2 a quart more oil to keep the correct level.

        Have fun.
