    does your oil pan drain nut have a nylon washer on it?

    I've noticed for a while not that every now and then it looks like my car is leaking oil from the drain plug. Now we're talking a drip every now and then, but I have noticed ever since I have haad the car, the drain plug has a nylon/plastic looking washer around it. I am wondering if your guy's camaros are the same way? Can this be my problem with it leaking oil? If so easy fix, just next time I remove the plug to take it off. It is just a curious question. Please let me know.

      Go to the dealership and buy a new plug. You should replace it every few oil changes. It's only like five bucks, good habit to get into. And it's not a washer so don't try to pull it off. There's a rubber seal built into the plug.
      At least on my '98, that's how it is.

        I just have a bolt, no washer or anything. I wonder how much it is for a new pan? I thought my drain was leaking oil too but it actually was the top of the oil pan not being tightened down enough so I retorqued it and nothing. I will try changing the seal on it and retorquing it but the pan still looks pretty awful.

          Nothing on mine, and why would you need to replace the nut?

            Mine has a white plastic looking one. But I bought one of those fram sure drains, and I'm putting that on next oil change it has a metal one I think.

              unless you've got oil-leakage problems coming from the pug, i wouldn't worry about spending the $5.

                Ted                <hr></blockquote>Huh. Don't make the mistake that EVERYONE has made in the past. 16-20lbs MAX on those oil pan bolts! Go much over that and you'll need a new pan.

                  You can get the oil drain plug gasket at Autozone also for less than a buck..I would suggest adding it to all oil changes.
