  • Thunder Racing Problem Fixed

I recently bought the stage 8 header bolts listed under the V6 section of Thunder Racing's website to find that they don't fit. I have tried numerous times to email and call and haven't recieved any reply. It has been close to 3 weeks and I can't reach them. It really makes me mad when people sell something that won't fit and they continue to list it on their site anyway. Anyone else had problems with them? I have ordered a few things before and have been happy...this is the first time this has happened.

Ive always had good experinces with Thunder, they ship super fast, to Texas at least. I dunno about your particular issue, but I would definately not label them as a bad seller, they have always taken care of me.

I have had 2 or 3 other orders with no problems. But I never had to deal with the customer service. How can 3 weeks go by with no response and it seems no one is ever on the end of their telephone.

Not to mention the fact that they have a product listed under the V6 section that doesn't fit. Its not like I picked the wrong one...it was the only header bolts listed.

What kind of headers are they and what do you mean they won't fit. Are you saying they are too short? If that is the problem. Maybe the flange on your header is too thick for those bolts.

Before I started AMMPerformance, I ordered quite a bit of stuff from them. Good people...Angie was always a load of help. Sounds like you just caught them on a bad day. Don't be too quick to criticize.

They actually list 2 types of header bolts for the V6.

I have nothing but praise for Thunder Racing and Angie!!! The do have a telephone number and I would find it extremely hard to believe that in 3 weeks they have not answered the phone any.

They do...but just different lengths. They are still to large to fit in the hole. I have tried about 5 times at different times of the day...I guess I will keep trying.

Sorry, I didn't see it stated theywre too big.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure a 3/8's will not fit your car. I would think yours would be 8mm-1.25x22mm. But I'm not that familiar with the 3.8 bolt sizes.

You should be able to tell from your stock bolts.

James, I apologize for the confusion on this issue. I have two e-mails from you...one back from 5/12 and another from 5/20. Both times I replied to your e-mail with the same response (the 2nd time I cut & pasted the response from the first one) I have not received any voice mail messages from you either. Here's what I responded to your e-mails...

"I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem with the bolts. We do not have a V6 car here in our shop to try these out on, so I'm not sure which ones would be needed in your application. Both of the ones listed in the exhaust accessory section of our web page are listed as SBC (Small block chevy) and are not intended to be a direct fit with the V6 cars. Stage 8 doesn't make a set for the V6 cars, but I have had several customers with the 3.8L's use them. (I'm not sure if they had to drill out the holes or what to make them work.)I'm sorry I don't have any more info for you at this time. I will be happy to accept a return on the bolts for you. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

                              Thanks!

                              Angie

**PLEASE NOTE: If you are responding to an e-mail, please do not "clip out" previous correspondence from your response. This helps me to be able to respond to you much faster. **

Since then, I have had another customer tell me that the LS1 style bolts work best on the 3.8L's. These are slightly longer than the 8911's and have a finer thread. If anyone has a STOCK header bolt that they would like to send me, I will be happy to check into this and compare it with all of the Stage 8 bolts we have in stock to see if one of them will be compatible.
