• can i kill the traction control of my 98V6 camaro?

Hello.
I'm japanease. First, I'm sorry but my english is not so good. Please allow about that.

I live in japan and there are not not so much information about CAMARO.

My camaro 98's V6 seems that it has traction control system, but there are no switch to kill the function.

SLP TCS Logic Module can not work for V6?
Is there any way to burnout?(i think it need more hp, but if the traction control sys is ON, it is impossible to burnout..)

Welcome to the board.

My car does not have traction control, so any suggestion I have may be incorrect.

Maybe there is a fuse for the traction control system that can be removed? If not, I'm sure someone who knows will answer your question shortly.

Did they sell the camaro in Japan? I imagine it must be unusual to find one there.

As far as I know, the TCS system wasn't offered on V6s until sometime around 2000 (although my 97 has a bulb in the dash for TCS OFF, it never comes on). I'm not sure about the differences in Japanese camaros, but a good way to tell if you really have TCS is to find the TCS RPO code in your glove box or on the driver's door. The TCS code is NW9. There should be a switch on your dash that says "ASR" or "TCS" that you can turn off.

they sell a unit to keep the traction thing off all the time until you press the button and it will engage unlike the other way around otherwise.

i'll try to find the site. i have only found it in the v8 sections of online stores

I appreciate your opinions.

My friend said that my 98V6 have TCS. But I cant find "TCS" and "ASR" on my dash. And there is no fuse for the TCS.

I investigated some things about 98 models and find that TCS was the specification of only Z28 till November, 98. But from November, 98, V6 came to be equipped TCS standardly.

I search my Vin code and find that my car was made in 98. I think that after nov, 98 model mean 99V6 and my car doesn't have TCS. Is that right?

If my car doesn't have TCS. I only need more and more hp

Can 3.8L-V6 burnout tires by light tune
(Exhaust, Induction, ... without Supercharger or NOS)?
I heard that 3.4L-V6 can burnout!
How about your V6? If you can, what kind of Mod do you do?

As for Camaro, some men have popularity also in Japan. The agency of an import vehicle called YANASE sells cars, such as GM and Ford, BMW etc.. But there is not so much Camaro owner in Japan. I love camaro because Camaro have so much Coooool Exterior!

Hey V6J,
Welcome to the board! I have a 2000 auto 3.8L that has ASR. If your car was equiped with it there would be a button on the dash, above the stereo, next to the fog light button.
You can always peel out(on a wet surface if you cant)and see if you get a low traction light, and the computer limits gas. As far as the burnout, I can roast the tires from a dead stop, I think this has a lot to do with my aftermarket torque converter.
Good Luck.

Traction control didn't come on the V6 F-Bodies until 99. The electronic throttle body is what made it available to the V6.

Hi!
When it's raining and under hard acceleration is your power cut down ?

I've got a 99 3.8 and I can desactivate ASR with a switch.
With ASR ON the power shut down until the car can find the grip on the road
(I can barely speak english too, I'm french)
With ASR Off, there's fire in the house:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/diamondduff/...rnbabyburn.wmv

I don't believe you have ASR, I've heard ASR on 98 is just on Z28.
If you had ASR, you must have a switch to desactivate it, or you can't drive on snow for exemple...

Are camaro in Japan are called 'import' ? ;)

You need to pratice to burn out, or buy a line lock

ASR was not offered on V6's until 1999. A 98 V6 has no traction control system, if it did , it would have the button to kill it when you needed to.
