All this talk about what oil to use, and what oil is best... i hope we are not overlooking another important factor, the oil filter.

Anyway, every oil change i pour in Valvoline's DuraBlend Motor Oil and screw on an AC Delco oil filter. I change my oil often. Every two months actually, and during that time i put about 2500 miles on my Camaro. I am very big on preventative maintenance, so i feel a couple extra bucks every oil change is well worth it!

      I definitely am a Mobil 1 loyalist
I switched to synthetic at around 100k. I have no leaks and my engine does not burn oil.

      I run Mobil 1 5w30 and a Mobil 1 filter
like what was said above i too think the filter is just as important as the oil

I've taken 3 cars to 150k+ miles each, and I've run them pretty hard, they all saw red line on regular occasion. I think the most important thing about engine oil is to make sure there's enough of it in there. If your car uses or leaks oil then keep it filled up!

The rest of it is not as important. Whether you use conventional, a blend or full synthetic, change it every 3, 4, or 5k miles, use a $2 oil filter or a $10 one, it's not going to make much difference over the lifetime of the car.

How does Walmarts cheap Castrol oil fair? How does a Fram filter fair? I also use Lucas oil stabilizer addative in sacrifice of a quart and noticed higher oil pressure. I have a 133K miles and was considering switching to synthetic but I can't afford any oil leaks if the rumor is true.

I've been using Syntec since my first oil change. Now I'm at 125K and still going strong, no problems whatsoever.

                Don't use fram filters...

as for high mileage oils, I ran Valvoline Max life on my 94 it stopped a small dribble it had, and motor is till tuting along with like 140-150k on it. And that car had over 350 passes at the drag strip and a few autocrosses, only thing ever done ot the motor was asjust the rockers once at 115k.

Use mobil one with a AC Delco PF52 Filter every 3000 miles but, if you have an oil leak you with see it very quickly and lose a lot of oil. Thats the only problem with synthetic oil, it will find your leak fast.

It's probably your rr main seal that is leaking. It is very common on our cars. Have you looked under the car to see where it's coming from?
If it is the rr main, you have to drop the tranny to get to it.

After much research on both oil and filters I chose:

                            Castrol "Syntec" 10W30 Oil
Purolator PureONE Oil Filter (p/n PL24011)

Started using it at 38,000 - now have 147,000 miles.
