sooooo, when i take my car USUALLY above 3k RPM's, i'll start to lose power. my gauge goes all the way down, like its running just off of the battery. sometimes it can only be 2500 RPMs and i'll start to lose power and sometimes it has to be 5k RPMs. anyone have an idea of whats wrong? its H.O. alternator i got from mr. alternator. my mechanic thought it might of been a loose idler pully, but that got tightened and it didn't do anything. do i need to change my wires going from my alternator? a bigger ground?

        need more info..
what are the guages doing exatctly?? when will it come back up?
is the car shutting off? or just a power decrese?

for starters, i would check your grounds and power leads on the batt and alternator..
check both the chassis and the top of the batt..

        need the details

well. like i'll be at 2500 RPM's, and the car will just start to lose power. it still runs and everything, but sometimes it seems like the car will "miss." the voltage meter will drop all the way into the yellow and fluctuate at times. the speedometer will start to bounce around, along with the RPM gauge. everything just starts to lose power. once it shifts or whatever, everything goes back to normal until i start to get higher in the RPM's. we thought it might of been a loose belt tensioner, but we tightened it back up, and it still does this. i don't want to change the wires, but i'll do what ever is nescassary. this is the only thing stopped me from going to the track. any other help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds Exaclty like what was happening to me. About 2 seconds before my alternator blew- Get your Battery check RIGHT NOW! If your battery isnt holding charge, or is undercharging and then discharging your alternator is gonna take full load and die. Pray that u have a bad batt =) just go to autozone or somethign they'll test it. cause it sounds like ur alternator is not loving the **** .

sounds like a bad alternator to me...I would take it off and take it to autozone they test it for free...if your battry is dead and its a true 160 amp alternator it shouldn't have any problem suplying the ening e with enough power...you also might want to check into your voltage regulator...
