I will call my dad tomorrow and tell him what happened with your car and see if he might know of some things you can check that might be wrong.
I know the wiring is right though, unless for some reason the wiring is different for 94 and 95 3.4Ls which I doubt..
nah it should be the same but it made the same noises with my wiring the first way i did it and its basically the same way u did it,,,but it doesnt sound healthy at all im a lil worried
are you sure you have the first coil wired backwards?
If you look at it from driver side to passenger side, the one that is on the right, is backwards from the other 2..
Heavy Red(power lead)-to power junction
Heavy Black(powerlead)-grounded
Red1-hooked up to channel 1 and 2 12volt source wire
Red2-hooked up to channel 3 12volt source
MY BROWN IS YOUR BLACK
Brown/orange- (+)Coil wire (channel1)&(channel2)
Brown/white- (-)Coil wire (channel1)
Brown/green- (-)Coil wire (channel2)
Brown/yellow- (-)Coil wire (channel3)
the 2nd Brown/orange- (+)Coil wire (chanel3)
Brown/violet- taped off
White- hooked up to trigger source of channel 1
Green- hooked up to trigger source of channel 2
Yellow-hooked up to trigger source of channel 3
Violet-grounded
you have yours wired differently from mine, I have a white and black wire from each CIU going to the same 2 wires.
The first coil on mine (for cylinders 2 and 5) is connected with the other 2, but it is just backwards.
When I installed my DIS-4 i took a voltmeter, turned the key - so there was power on the ignition - measured all pins (those pins you mount the coil resp. CIUs on), wrote down where´s the 12v source and where´s the trigger/ground and then wired everything according to the instructions.
It´s really not that hard and you can be sure the ignition is wired correctly for your car and you don´t have to rely on perhaps wrong diagrams.
(I also don´t trust GM in those things, perhaps they even wired some cars different - because without the DIS-4 it doesn´t matter IMO where´s the source and where´s the trigger)
Just my .2 cents.
alright well i wrote down my 12volts sources and follow the MSD Instructions to a key and it didnt work.........but im gonna try your way again batmobile im gonna completely take it apart and do it ur way cuz i halfassed it the first time i tryed your way.................
ive got a few questions bout ur diagram im gonna disassemble while i wait for ur reply ill put my questions in parantheses
clarify before u read taht and get confused lol
wire wraps meaning the each set of wires wraped in the black rubber
+coil meaning positive coil wire
For the CIU on coil pack 2/5:
White*: Goes to 2 Black/Red wires((+coil wire goes to both black/red wires each from the seperate wire wraps?))
Black*: Goes to 2 red wires(((12v source? goes to both red wires from each of the seperate wire wraps?)))
Black: Yellow
White: Black/Yellow
For the CIU on coil pack 3/6:
White: Black/Green
Black: Green
(12vsource?)Black: Goes with the 2 red wires from Black* above((connects also to the 2red wires from seperate wire wraps?))
(coil+)White: Goes with the 2 Black/Red wires from White* above(connects also with both black/red wires from both wire wraps?)
For the CIU on coil pack 1/4:
White: Black/White
Black: White
Black: Goes with the 2 Red wires from Black* above(same thing goes with both red wires from both wire wraps?)
White: Goes with the 2 Black/Red wires from White* above.(goes with both black/red wires from both wire wraps)
Did you buy the MSD Coil Interface Module? (or Coil Interface Unit as I called them previously)
You need 1 of these for each coil (3 total) otherwise it won't work. Go to www.summitracing.com and do a search for part # MSD-8870 you will see what you need. I don't know if you have them or not, I am just bringing it up just in case.
To answer your questions in parenthesis -
About the black/red and red wires, I am not sure what the purpose of the wires is because I don't have the instructions from the DIS-4, but I will call my dad and see if he has the instructions or if he remembers if that was the 12v source. I will post an answer to this later..
And for the other parts, there is 1 black whire from each CIU that connects together and goes to the 2 wires and 1 white wire from each CIU that connects together and goes to the 2 wires. The tricky thing is that the first one (driver side coil) is backwards from the other 2. Hopefully i am explaining this clearly enough to where you can understand lol its kind of difficult.
if you are standing at the nose of your car, looking at the ignition, follow the wires I listed from left to right. The first white wire on the left goes to the 2 black/red wires, next wire is a black wire.. next is another black... next white... just follow in order and you should be ok.
ya you told me a long long time ago to buy those like last summer we had talked about it and i didnt have time before winter to put it on...i bought em first thing when you told me and i got the ones that go white black black white (....) not over under like so ( :: )
so it goes 3 three black wires that are both 12v sources all connect together (the other black wires are triggers)..those black wires go to both Red wires////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\then 3 white wires being the positive coil wires all connect going to both black/red wires
i guess that would make sense if thats what u meant
it worked still sounds weird i got my bro comin over........I WILL DO ALL US 3.4 GUYS A FAVOR AND TAKE PICTURES OF THE WIRING AND POST THEM............THANKS ALOT BATMOBILE my wiring was the same as yours but i didnt hook one wire up lol i really appreciate the time you took helpin me correct the problem....i give give you a ton of thumbs up on that...i will be right back to talk with ya
