• Need to Keep Engine Cool

Hey there, in two weeks I will be leaving and taking a long drive through Texas/Arizona/New Mexico. I want to make sure my car doesn't have any heat problems. Should I? Also, would a 160* thermo and a manual fan switch help out? Thanks!

I drove through the scortching desert in my 2002, it was probabaly 115-120F outside at the time. I drove at 85mph through most of it, A/C was on the entire time and it was nearly 60F in the car, and all I had was 60-70% distilled water to 30-40% glycol mix and a 160F Thermostat. She ran about 175-180F all the way, no problems at all.

Goodluck and have a good trip, be safe and watch your mirror closely and often for police officers sneaking up on you if you're on I-10.

I have no problems with the stock thermo, and a FTRA blocking good airflow to a lot of the gratings. Even sitting in traffic, A/C on, 110F outside.

        Don't worry about it :)

This may sound crazy, but if your car starts to overheat turn the heater on. The fan in the engine compartment will help cool it off.
