I see it on thunder-racing for 67 bucks. Looks like it can help me alot! But before I get it, is it a good investment? Is it easy to install? And where would the switch be located? Just those questions. Thanks

If you do a search of the posts on this board you will get a lot of info on this topic or should.
The switch is a good investment especially if you change your thermostat. It is very easy to install -- instructions are good and easy to follow. You can place the switch any place that you have enough wire to reach. Some put the switch in the ash tary, around the lighter, in the dash under the A/C vents, in the glove box and so on.
Also, there are posts on this board showing you how to make a switch youself and save dollars.2001 Camaro M5 Coupe(1 of 2,737), no options, Whisper Lid, K&N Air Filter, Free Ram Air, MAFS Screen removed, SLP Manual Fan Switch, 160 thermo, DEE\'s T/B Spacer, EGR Block-off plate, IAT resistor, CAI to EGR air feed, B&M Ripper Shifter, SLP Replacement Grill, T/A Exhaust, SLP five spoke take-off wheels, BMR strut-tower brace, BMR Tunnel Brace, BMR 32/21 front & rear sway bars with poly, BMR Poly/Combo Rear Control Arms, Clear front & rear corners, HPP3 modified 87 Octane program.
http://www.cardomain.com/id/red2k1

yes for goodness sake don't buy this thing for $70--it isn't that great of a product. you can make yourself one...i did--it's even better than slp's because it allows you to turn the fans to low or high and it has LED lights that display which speed the fan is running, whether you or the pcm is controlling it. the only occasional problem is the p1651 ses light--fan 1 relay, but it's kind of an obvious ses light. when it comes on and you have your fans on manually, you know that the switch is the cause of the light. it's easy to turn off yourself too--a matter of turning the car to the accesory position with the switch ungrounded then turning it back on (i just put another on off switch to the ground, so that i could ungrounded it by flipping a switch, this makes turning the ses light off much easier). i would highly recommend you do it yourself--unless ya just freak out at the fact that you may get an ses VERY unoften.2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

There is also a free mod that doesn't throw an SES light.Don't spend that much $$$.Just go to http://www.fbody.com/tech/details.cgi?id=14 and follow the instructions.I changed 2 things from these instructions.I used a lighted LED switch so I had to run a ground wire. And I also ran my power wire from the radio fuse instead of from a constant power source.I didn't want my fans running when the key wasn't in the car. ;)

the only thing about that one is you only control low speed on the fans...if you have ever sat in traffic at all, your low speed fans are almost always on, unless it is really cold outside or you just started your car--but i guarantee you i know this because i have a light that tells me, THE FANS ARE ON LOW ALWAYS UNDER 40 MPH. sitting in traffic requires extensive cooling to the engine, 2 little low speed fans won't make much of a difference, if any at all; i know i have sat in traffic with the low one on and watched my temperature rise before. but i've sat in traffic...non moving traffic at that and i let my temp get up to the 200 mark and then i turned the fans on high. no more than 10 minutes later, the fans had brought my engine back down to operating temp, which was 180 for me. and i did not move any at all during that time. low speed fans will not do it for ya. go to this website and click "modifications" then "fan switch" and it will tell you how to do it. an ses light is no big deal at all if it's fixable without having to pay any money...i don't know why it bothers you guys to face the fact that you might get a little light...i'd much rather get a light then think 2 low speed fans are working while watching my engine overheat. either way, the best of luck to ya. if you are going to do it though, do it right.

I just installed mine and it does make a ncie difference. I like how the SLP system is a simple plug and play install...very easy and you don't have to hunt down wires. I can understand everyone's arguement about the price issue- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance
