• reprogramming your PCM is as easy as....

...using your dealerships 3000$ OBD-2 computer...anyways I found an update for my car, something about the TPS...was wondering if any of you knew what it did, also about tire size....say the PCM thought the car got Z rated tires from the factory, do you think that would raise the speed limiter to the 168mph limit the tires are supposed to handle?...or should I not bother asking any of the mechanics to help me change it on the PCM???

I think the TPS thing was discussed here,

Other than that, not many, if any, have had any luck with the dealership.

they will not raise the speed limiter.

I'm also moving this to general tech.. it's too basic.

it's called the Y87 Throttle Lag and it's only for 1999 Chevy Camaros and 1999 Pontiac Firebirds that are automatics and came with the Y87 package (3.42s). I had this update installed and it didn't do ****. However try that Z rated tires trick.

I think someone had a dealership change the speed limiter...

But many others tried it and dealerships figure its not worth making maybe 100 customers wolrdwide happy, for the risk of one million dollar lawsuit for changing a car from GM specs.

So is this like a recall thing, where I can take it in and have them reflash my pcm. Cause you just described my car above, and I do notice a slight lag in acceleration.

yea but make sure you have a tech who's knowledgable or else that'll give you the look. Even with this update I found NO DIFFERENCE other than the gas pedal (since it's electronically controlled0 more mushy. Also I ran slower on the 1/4mi after installing...could have been my corroding spark plugs/wires but which one was accountable or both...that I will never know.
