LS1 LESSONS
Beware of these 15 pitfalls when powering up your F-body.

http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/toc/

The same "DON'Ts" apply to the 3800.

1) DON'T Mess with the MAF
2) DON"T Use platinum-tipped plugs with a supercharger
3) DON'T Install a ported or larger throttle body
4) DON'T Delete the torque management table or disable knock protection
5) DON'T Run high compression in a supercharged car
6) DON'T Reach for the red(line)
7) DON'T Invest in a intake manifold until it's necessary
8) DON'T Install surplus sewer pipe (larger exhaust)
9) DON'T Use a 160-degree thermostat without fan control
10) DON'T Over-cam your blower motor
11) DON'T Use O2 simulators up front (of the CAT)
12) DON'T Get "pulled" (under-drive pulleys)
13) DON'T Neglect the fuel system (fuel pump)
14) DON'T Rely on the Internet (advice)
15) DON'T Invest in shorty headers

Who has a subscription to this? No one around here carries it and they have an article about adapting a diesel turbo to a 455 Pontiac, and I'm pretty sure that's the same turbo I have, so I'd like a scan of the article.

Anyone?

I've had a subscription last two yrs & haven't heard anything about a turbo 455.

There is a neat article about a Sprint Six w/supercharger making some serious numbers in the current issue.

edit: in one of my back issues, they have some tips on taking car of your efi engine, I'll see about scanning them & posting for yall. Only problem is I have parts 2 & 3, missed part 1

Done, but you really need to read the associated discussion of why too.

I see HPP at the newsstands here all the time. They fairly recently did an article on 12secv6. I think they have a website too.

I'd have to disagree with 3,7,12,15, and surely 14 Otherwise, some good tips there.

I used to subscribe (and it is not very much money), but I am trying to save $$$, so no more subscription... :(

At least the website gives you a look at a few of the articles.

16) DON'T believe everything a magazine says.

# 4-TQ management is GAY. it is good for nothing.
# 7-they must have forgotten that the 01 and 02 have LS6 intake. it is a simple bolt on with nice performance gains. even on pre 01 cars
# 8-No larger exhaust huh.. dumbass's. dyno proven power.

here is a simple rule for 00+ LS1 cars
A4 cars - Cam, tuning, converter, long tubes, traction = low 12's at least
M6 cars - Cam , Tuning, Clutch, long tubes, 12 bolt, traction = low 12's at least

thats a gaurentee.

As for those that are now arguing about how wrong the list is, it is clear you haven't read the article.

End of discussion.
