  • Big problem with Tires, exhaust, Suspension or drivetrain

Something wierd today I dropped off my stuff at drycleaners, got in car to drive away, felt a vibration and slight noise from the rear.

-ne exhaust hanger is a little loose, but has been for months, it clanks as usual, but doesn't hit hte tires, driveshaft or pumpkin from what I can see.

-rear sway bar looks all good.

-rear axle has maybe 50k on it its off a 97 WS6

-My tires are unsafe, extremely bald(ironically I was on my way to get tires today) Kick test seems there is air in tires, getting pressure guage now. I'll check for balance weights. Se if they fell off.

Vibration starts off low, is gone around 2k it seems but gets worse further up.

I bring this up last because its not what I want ot hear. Think its the Diffy or posi going out or gone? Or maybe the driveshaft gone bad?

Right now I am letting exhasut cool a bit, need to throw the cutout back on to listen for sounds. Well the girlfriend is going to be pissed I think our trip to ft. lauderdale was jsut canceled, we do not trust her car either.

Think rotating them might figure it out?

stopped raining I got underneath the car, and figured it out.

I broke a torque arm, my rear axle rotated, pinion angle is waay off hence the vibration, and the loud kerchunks are my rear coil springs bowing outward and rubbing aginst the frame.

AHAHAH ... ok, now I'm better. Bummer about the torque arm, but I know you of all people beat on the 3.4 like no other. Time for an upgrade? Or just some new hardware.

ITs the torque arm, its broke right near the diffy...

The bushing is fine, its poly and about 7 months old.

not sure I want to upgrade it, unless you consider a lt1 torque, basically the same thing as a v6 one an upgrade.

Maybe I will look for a ls1 driveshaft.

get an aluminum DS.. they are sweet and cheep..
check out the edelbrock torque arm.. its a stock replacement.. pops right in w/o new mouting/drilling and its only like $140ish..

                its a pretty nice part...
