do i need to clean the threads on my waterpump bolts/studs before installing the pump? i have heard of tapping the holes and putting teflon around the bolts, but that sounded a little extreme.

I took the old bolts from my old waterpump and reused them after cleaning them up. So far they have worked fine (1 month later).98 Silver Camaro V6<br />15.238 @91.74 w/ 2.288 60\'<br />Mods: K&N, FTRA, Pacesetter Headers, Spec 3 Clutch, 160 Thermo, TSP Rumbler, 3\" Catco, Whisper Lid, 3.42\'s w/LSD, Aluminum DS, Man Fan Switch<br /><br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain

yeah, i replaced the one on my ole firebird. I reused everything. a good bit of liquid gasket was used. it was easy, just unbolt it, and put a new one on. I used the same bolts too. No teflon or anything. Didn't clean them either. Although, coolant came out the holes when i unscrewed them. Funny story though... it all worked great, but that wasn't the problem... my head gaskets were blown :\99 WS6

No I didnt use any gasket sealer either. Just the plain ol' gasket that you can pick up at any auto store. Sealed up fine. Just make sure to torque the bolts down well (preferably factory specs).98 Silver Camaro V6<br />15.238 @91.74 w/ 2.288 60\'<br />Mods: K&N, FTRA, Pacesetter Headers, Spec 3 Clutch, 160 Thermo, TSP Rumbler, 3\" Catco, Whisper Lid, 3.42\'s w/LSD, Aluminum DS, Man Fan Switch<br /><br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain

I just did my water pump a few days ago I didn't clean them or do anything to them just inspected them to make sure the threds wern't messed up and make sure the heads wern't striped and just put them back on. No leaks or any signs of leakes since I did it. But the next time I put a pump on it I'm gonna put new bolts for the water pump.
