  • got a problem with tha ride...need help

here lately when i drive my car somewhere and stop and get out it smells like something is burning. all the gauges on the car are fine and i get my oil changed every 3k. when i open the door i can smell it, so it makes me think it is coming from right under-neath the car or from the wheels. any help would be greatly appreciated and will keep me from getting bent by the dealer. thanx

Well I had the guys that changed my oil say that i had a transmission seal leaking. would that cause a smell like that. my first thought also, was that i had ran over a plastic bag and it got stuck around my exhaust or something. but i didnt think it would take that long to burn off. if its just a plastic bag on my exhaust i will find out when i get my flowmaster catback put on next week.

trans fluid burning does not smell really like burning plastic. more like some kind of fluid that's burning...

if you're smelling burning plastic, a wiring harness plastic conduit or connector may have gotten loose and may be melting on exhust/engine components... look for this when you install your exhaust system. look carefully... there is a chance that a careful inspection may prevent a fire. or a nasty melted wiring harness...

who was it... smoky the bear? said, "only you can prevent forest fires..." wise words from someone called "smoky."
